At Cana

Cover of the novel At cana

For Yeshua of Nazareth to dismiss his mother’s request for help at the wedding of Cana – well it seemed just too unbelievable. After all the bible commentary, the exegesis, the explanations that “he really didn’t mean to sound so rude”, it’s still a cold reply. Then the next action in this story – His mom ignoring his comment and offering her son’s services to the hospitality crew. “Do whatever he tells you to do.” These two lines alone are are enough for a hearty tale of gift giving and redemption.

At first, I wrote At Cana to offer the 21st Century reader an explanation for Yeshua’s remark. Then, to give a telling of this classic story with the wedding party, the guests, the hospitality team, the community. It’s a story about transformation – and the willingness to accept it.
